I spent most of Mother's Day birding in Loudoun Co. and finished at home in the
Shenandoah Valley.
After getting rained-out yesterday, I returned to some areas in Northern
Loudoun where I expected to find good birds.
Birding was quite good compared to Sat., but most surprising was the large
amount of YB Cuckoos I found all day in many different
spots.
Total for the whole day was 23. I assume many are migrating thru, but most were
showing "territorial" displays like they intended to
stay.
At any rate, it was a nice treat indeed - to see more Cuckoos in the woods than
I encounter daily at work!!
