I'll try this again. I'm not sure why it truncated the message.
After we finished Dismal Swamp this morning, we went to Craney Island for a
look around. I had intended to include these results in the earlier email,
changed my mind, but forgot to change the earlier subject line. So here's what
we saw at Craney. In the southern impoundment toward the western half is the
location for most of the shorebirds. There's a large number of yellowlegs
there. I would estimate about 600 Greaters and 200 Lessers. There were peep
there, but they were too far for identification. Dunlin and Least Sandpipers
were definites, but there were probably others as well. There were a few
SANDERLINGS outside along the western jetty as well as a few SEMI-PALMATED
PLOVERS and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS. Other species seen inside were 3 AMERICAN
AVOCETS, 8 BLACK-NECKED STILTS, 2 WHIMBRELS, 2 GULL-BILLED TERNS, 1 LEAST TERN,
3 CASPIAN TERNS, 15 ROYAL TERNS, GADWALL, GREEN-WINGED & BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
SHOVELERS.
Cheers,
Bob
