Subject: SNOW Still at Mt. Compton VA
The Snowy Owl (SNOW) was still at Mt. Compton, VA today as of 2:30pm. There
were three other "groups" there when I arrived with my three sons. One family
arrived with North Carolina plates. A nice gentleman whose name I regret not
getting pointed the bird at the far end of the corn field. It was easy to spot
and hung out the entire 20-30 minutes that we were there. Much better views
when we broke out our scope. For the first time ever, tried my hand at
digi-scoping to adequate results.
It loafed in the field the entire time I was there. It would glance at I-81
traffic whenever an 18 wheeler roared by. With all the distractions it's
amazing it hasn't moved somewhere more remote.
