Phil,
You are correct. I found 5 Common Nighthawks over the buildings last
evening (5-13). I had been checking regularly since 4-28 without
success(last time on 5-09). They have been in the area since early May, but
near or over the Potomac River probably attracted by the various insect
emergences.
This is the latest arrival at Tyson's I have recorded in the four
springs I have checked this site. Previous late date was May 5 last year.
