I had a gorgeous Chipping Sparrow at the feeder tonight, at 6:15 pm. This is
the first I have seen this year, and a nice sign of spring! It was in
breeding plumage, with a bright rufous crown and crisp black eye-line. In
another sign of spring, one of my bluebird boxes had a layer of pine needles
covering the bottom of the box. This would be remarkably early for EABL to
be nesting.
