While some of the more interesting winter residents are still hanging
tight at the feeders (RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, PURPLE FINCH and PINE
SISKIN), some new arrivals here in Ruth include:
PINE WARBLER and E. PHOEBE (vocalizing for a couple of weeks), FOX
SPARROW (a brief stop-over last weekend) and CHIPPING SPARROW (feeding
on the ground with my neighbor's chickens this morning).
The money I'm losing in feeding chickens is being slightly offset by
the 26 eggs we've harvested over the course of the week.
