We spent a quite enjoyable weekend at Chincoteague this past weekend with a
nice variety of birds. While we missed the Razorbill, (I saw an alcid on
Sat. but lost it in the waves before I could ID it, Mary Alice had one
flying on Sun), there were good birds around. Some of the highlights for us
were the Short Eared Owl at Saxis seen flying at 1215 on Saturday, the drake
Redhead on the Wildlife Drive, the one White winged Scoter from the beach,
the Wood Duck, 2 Common Goldeneyes and many Canvasbacks at Saxis. Did not
see many Snow Geese, had one flyover flock of about 75 which included 1 Blue
Goose.
