Greetings,
Late this afternoon, I got a call from Ken Bass in Nokesville (Prince William
Co.), telling me he found a Cattle Egret and two Glossy Ibis at a dairy farm
along Parkgate Drive. He had seen the Cattle Egret sitting on a fence post
near the road! He initially saw the Ibis in flight as they came in for a
landing near a stream bank (Slate Run). I rushed out there, but we were
unable to relocate the Cattle Egret. Ken relocated the Ibis foraging in an
overflow area near the stream. While walking out to look for the Ibis, Ken
spotted a Mama Wood Duck with a dozen little fluff balls in tow, looking for
a place to hide from us.
