VA BIRDers,
There was an adult California Gull on the Neabsco Cr. mudflats at about 1130
today. Nearby was ca. 750 Laughing Gulls distributed about the mudflats.
This early arrival of California Gull is consistent with previous arrivals in
the Northern Virginia region, albeit a week or two early. Its attractive to
think that the latest cold fronts passing through our area brought it from the
mid-west. I suspect other representatives of the species are about, too.
