Hello,
When we found the California Gull at Hunting Creek, Fairfax County, last
Thursday, Feb. 21, at about 10:30 am, on our NVBC walk, it was close to
mid-tide. The flats farther out were mostly covered. When Bob Abrams
reported the gull on Sunday, Feb. 24, about 2:30 pm, the tides were probably
at about the same stage, because the tides usually progress about an hour
each day. Although there are never any guarantees where birds are concerned,
I would suggest that anyone looking for the California Gull might try to go
to Hunting Creek about mid-tide.
