Hi all,
Here is the latest update from the Eastern Shore. At least three Mississippi
Kites have been seen in the area over the last week...two adults and a first
year. A Bicknell's Thrush was banded at the station yesterday and will end
up being one of the outstanding highlights to our season. Thanks to Bob
Anderson for taking some video and stills of this bird. Today there was a
first summer Glaucous Gull at Oyster...seems to be getting a bit late for
this species. A trip to Savage Neck near Eastville found several plowed
fields with shorebirds that were perhaps grounded by the inclement weather.
One field of note had 500+ Semipamated Plovers, 100+ Semipalmated
Sandpipers, 25+ Dunlin and a few Black-bellied Plovers and Least Sandpipers.
Another field held about 250 Black-bellied Plovers.
