I was part of the Richmond contingent and have a few additions to Brenda's
report on the CBBT. Island 4 we (myself, Stephen Elliot, Art Baker and two
other birders) observed a female Merlin perched atop one of the lamp posts
for a minute or so. Also an adult winter Lesser Black Backed Gull down on
the rocks on Island 4. Had a couple of flyby Common Loons Is. 1, and Is.3)

We birded around Northampton County until about 4:00 pm. We visited Custis
Tomb, Oyster and Willis Wharf. Highlights included, Eurasian Collared Dove
on Rte 600 near Townsend. A few Horned Larks in the ploughed fields as you
approach Custis Tomb. Good numbers of Brant at Oyster (500+). Also at
Oyster, 18 Hooded Merganser, 2 Black Bellied Plover, 40 Dunlin, 4 Short
Billed Dowitcher, 2 Western Sandpiper, 3 Willet, 30 Oystercatcher. Finally a
single immature Black-Crowned Night Heron at Willis Wharf near the bridge
over the creek.

A good day out.
