Hello All,
I'll chime in here. I appreciate Ned Brinkley's comments, and agree with the
points Larry Meade made earlier. If you have been to the CBBT, you see the new
fence and realize what happened. It's as simple as this (in my eyes): the new
fence went up, so suddenly there was no easy way to give birders access. To
think that birders were even a priority for the CBBT before some folks got
involved with negotiating the current policy is a fallacy. At first I was
dismayed at the CBBT being restricted to us, but since then I have realized we
are lucky to have ANY access at all. I thank the folks at the CBBT for at
least granting us the access we do have, and for being great sports while out
there on the islands. Of course it would be great to have it the way it was,
but raising voices would probably go along way to getting what we have taken
from us.

P.S. My best suggestion would be that a few birders offer to take the new
director birding to turn him into an avid enthusiast like the rest of us! That
could go a long way. ;-)
