The VSO Bluebook of 1987 lists two records of Burrowing owl in
Virginia . One of them was in Albemarle County in 1983 , when an owl of
that species was seen ( and photographed ) from Aug. 10 through Oct .
16. It was in open pasture land . The main observer of that bird
reported that it was living in Woodchuck holes and did not vocalize
much .
