I visited the Burke Lake marina a little after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 4th.
Plenty of wind and waves, but a good assortment of birds nonetheless. There
were some differences in species composition and numbers from what Kurt
Gaskill had earlier in the day:
Common Loon - 26
Horned Grebe - 7
Pied-billed Grebe - 2
Double-crested Cormorant ~ 50
Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose ~ 10
Mallard - 4
Am. Wigeon - 6
Blue-winged Teal
Green-winged Teal
Redhead
Ring-necked Duck - 4
Bufflehead
Common Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser - 4
Am. Coot - 4
Bonaparte's Gull ~ 25
Ring-billed Gull ~ 30
Herring Gull ~ 15
Belted Kingfisher - 2
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Tree Swallow 10+
