I went and checked out Burke Lake at lunch time today and
found goodly number of waterfowl. Best bird was probably
a Redhead. Most amusing birds were three Bald Eagles,
two adults and an immature, who were trying to sit on the
thin skim of ice that covered about half the water. It was
not strong enough to bear their weight for long, and after
a couple of seconds they would crash through, much to their
indignation. Other birds seen:
Canada Geese tons
20 or so Mallards
15 Ringnecks
1 Redhead
12 Common Mergs
2 Hooded Mergs
8 Ruddies
6 Coots
No unusual gulls and no loons or grebes. I didn't stay
very long so there may have been more stuff out there.
