Hi- The lake here at Cross Junction is active. Recently I have seen
Ring-necked ducks, Coots, Mallards, and yesterday Buffleheads. Since this will
be my
first winter here, I will keep track of what stays on the lake during the
winter.
Today, with all the rain, I had a huge group of finches, both House and
Purple, as well as Goldfinches, bathing in the gutter of the house. I can see
it from my computer room, as the roof is sloped away. They were not disturbed
by my being in the room.
I also observed Blue Jays, coming for a quick drink. I have 3 bird
bath out, 2 heated and one solar heated. There are White-throats and Fox
sparrows in the yard, as well as the Juncos and Chickadees and both White- and
Red-breasted Nuthatches and the Titmice. Also, someone mentioned the scarcity
of
Cardinals, but I seem to have some feeding under the hollies.
