Two better birds this morning on a stroll thru Dyke Marsh, Alexandria were
the BROWN THRASHER (probably two) near the wooden bridge on the peninsula and
one N. PARULA vocalizing in the morning sun near Dead Beaver Beach. TREE
SWALLOWS were in and out of two new nest boxes recently erected (thanks to
Sandy
Farkas and Kurt Gaskill), one GREATER YELLOWLEGS was calling for more, but
that's
all I saw. Immature WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW is still hanging out near the wood
bridge as well and 2 TOWHEES at the dogleg on Haul Rd. were among the
notables....
Do we need to start calling him "Lonesome George" now that he's hanging
around by himself? We all hope Martha is well on the mend and they will be
reunited
soon...
