We have a small colony of Golden-winged Warblers at our place in Highland
County, and we usually have a few Brewster's around, and once a Lawrence's.
Last
year we had a Golden-winged singing a Blue-winged song, and the Brewster's
might sing either song. You can't really tell what you have with these guys
until you actually see them.
I heard three singing Golden-winged songs on my property yesterday, but only
saw one Golden-winged, so don't know what we really have. There are also
several Golden-wings along the road up to my place, on 640 just before the West
Virginia line.
It is not really good to have the hybrids, it is feared that the Blue-winged
will become the dominant species and absorb the Golden-winged population.
