Birders,
Yesterday morning, 5/12, at 7 AM, there were 3 Bobolinks on the wires along
Leeds Manor Road where it intersects with Rt. 17 at Sky Meadows. Eastern
Meadowlarks were out in force, and they looked gorgeous on the fence posts with
their bright yellow breasts. After that, my husband and I walked the trail from
the lake at lower Thompsons up to parking lot #7. (Hope we sweated off a few
pounds!) Wood Thrush and Eastern Towhees sounded off at the lower elevations,
to be joined by Ovenbirds and other warblers, Acadian Flycatchers, Great
Crested Flycatchers, Scarlet Tanagers, and Indigo Buntings as we climbed
higher. We got great looks at Black-and White, Worm-eating, Cerulean, and
Hooded Warblers, and spotted one female American Redstart defending her nest
right alongside the trail.
