Before the developers built out Pentagon City in Arlington near where I
worked at the Puzzle Palace, it was a series of scrubby lots with lots of
cover. Often in the late 1960's I would walk on S. Hayes Street where there
is a Nordstrom now and there were Bobwhites calling.

Subject: [va-bird] BobWhites in Arlington
I grew up in north Arlington in a area of modest frame houses built in theemail to va-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx. To unsubscribe, send email to
the 1910s. The
area had once been a cherry orchard. We regularly had Bob Whites walking
along the roadside
in the early 1950s. I guess they must have managed to breed somewhere in
the neighborhood.
It's nice to think they might return.
