I spent a few hours at Leesylvania State Park this morning and ran into quite a
few birds. The most unusual was a blue-headed vireo. The late date on Kurt
Gaskill's site is May 6, so this bird is real late. I ran into many groups of
warblers and ended up with 20 species. Many blackpolls and redstarts, but also
blackburnian, bay breasted, chestnut-sided (female), black-throated green,
Wilson's, Canada, among others. Several Swainson's thrushes in the woods, and
it seemed like good numbers of Acadian and great-crested flycatchers. All in
all a fun morning.
