A hearty crew showed up for the monthly birdwalk at the Blue Ridge
Center for Environmental Stewardship today. Del Sargent and I (the
hearty crew) worked the Farmstead Loop in reverse fashion so that we
could hit the luscious, overgrown field by the cabins right off the
bat. It's chock-full of plants/weeds that have gone to seed and is not
only pretty, but also quite rich in sparrows/finches right now.
Highlights of the day: Seeing a SINGLE Myrtle Warbler; I didn't think
it was possible. A few (3) Purple Finches, 2 were adult males. Lotsa
