On Wednesday morning a friend of mine, Ervie Glick, brought me a male
Black-throated Blue Warbler that he had found on the ground outside his
house west of Harrisonburg. It was still alive but moved very little. I
placed it in a warm box and contacted the Wildlife Center of Virginia. It
seemed to be recovering but before I could get it to the Wildlife Center
it died.
According to the Blue Book this may be the first winter record for a
Black-throated Blue Warbler in the Mountains and Valleys province.
