VA BIRDers,
After the incredible snow fall here in Alexandria today (a good slushy/solid
half inch!), I sought to stretch legs down at Dyke Marsh with an afternoon
stroll. Highlights were 3 Common Goldeneye mixed in with the hundreds of
Ruddy Ducks, a few Canvasbacks and nearly a hundred Ring-necked Ducks off
the picnic area. At the dogleg there was a Gray Catbird about 100 yrds
before the start of the boardwalk. And on the north marsh side an adult
Cooper's perched on a pole and on the south marsh side an adult
Red-shouldered perched in a short tree.
