Virginia Birders!
The next regular bird walk at New Quarter Park near Williamsburg is this
Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 7:00 a.m. Bill Williams, Director of Education
for William and Marys Center for Conservation Biology and member of the
board of the Williamsburg Bird Club, will be our leader. The north winds
have been blowing and many winter residents are here. We may hear owls in
the park before dawn and may see some winter ducks on Queens Creek.
Meet by 7:00 a.m. in the parking lot next to the Park Office for about a 2½
hour walk around the park trails. (You can take off at any time if your
schedule is constrained. After all, it is W&Ms homecoming weekend!)

This park is near Williamsburg, the Colonial Parkway, and Interstate 64.
Directions: From Interstate 64: take exit 242A (Route 199 West/Jamestown
Exit.) Take the Route 143 exit off of Route 199 (the first exit), turn
right onto Route 143 and follow it until you come to the first stoplight,
which is the Penniman Road intersection. Turn right onto Penniman Road
(Magruder Elementary School is on the left) and take the first left turn
onto Hubbard Lane. Stay on Hubbard Land for about a mile until you go under
an overpass just past Cobble Creek subdivision. After the overpass, make an
immediate right turn onto Lakeshead Drive. Follow this road until you reach
the park entrance.
