With regard to Lori Markoff's question about binocular repair in northern
Virginia, I believe that I am correct in stating that there is no longer a
local
repair shop since Redlich's moved out of the area. They will still do the
work if you mail to them. They are listed in the phone book.
Another option, which I used this past year, was to take my binoculars to my
local birding supply store "One Good Tern". They packed and shipped my bins
to the appropriate company for repair, saving me the trouble of packing them.
I believe that the total time was about 3 weeks and the price was quite
reasonable. One Good Tern is located at 1710 Fern Street in Alexandria. This
is in
far west Alexandria in the Fairlington shopping area very near the
intersection of Quaker Lane and King Street (Route 7, Leesburg Pike, etc.).
Fern Street
joins Quaker Lane about 3 blocks north of the King Street intersection. The
store is near Ramparts Restaurant and Ernie's Crab House. Across Quaker Lane
is the large Fairlington Village community. Phone no.is 703-820-8376.
One Good Tern is a full-service bird/wildlife supply store with books,
feeders, feed, gifts, optics, and other related supplies. A very nice store
run by
very nice people.
