The Northern Va Bird Club will once again sponsor a Big Sit! circle at
Huntley Meadows Park (located off Rt. 1 in Alexandria Va). Date of the event is
Sunday, Oct. 8. Participants will sit (or stand) on the top of the tower
overlooking the beaver dam, pond, meadow...from 6am until dark in order to
tally as
many species of birds as possible. The Big Sit was started by the New Haven CT
Bird Club and is now an international event that boasts over 100 circles.
If you are interested in volunteering for a two hour "shift" let me know. All
skill levels are welcome to participate in this totally sedentary event.
