For the last three days, I have had in the woods next to my house a pair of
Bicknell's Thrush. That is, I think I do. They appear to be brown, with a
slight bit of spotting below the throat on the upper sides and the breast. In
fact, the coloring location reminds me of that of a Veery.
The reason I think they are Bicknell's is because their song has a gentle
initial downturn spiral with a wiry upturn at the end.
But would the Bicknell's still be around, and would they hang around for three
days? Wouldn't they have headed up to the mountains of New Hampshire where I
hear them in the summer?
