Va Birders :
Excellent numbers of sparrows in three separate flocks were visible at
the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve ,Loudoun County , this morning including
first for this fall American Tree as well as a late Chipping and Fox . Counts
of Eastern Towhee ( 8 ) , Am Tree ( 2 ) , Field ( 50 + ) , Chipping ( 1 )
,Savannah ( 6 ) ,White throated ( 75 ) , White-crowned ( 4 ) , Fox ( 8 ) ,
Song
( 100 + ) , Swamp ( 6 ) were recorded. Also noted was a late Catbird ,
Red-headed Woodpecker , Eastern meadowlark , Purple Finch, Ruby -crowned
Kinglet
,and Red-shouldered Hawk.
