Greetings to all:
This morning on the way down to Shirley's parents home a Northern Harrier flew
across the road near Tuck Airport on St Rd 716. After we arrived, I started
birding the edge of the woods and near a new pond that is being built by her
cousin on her father's family farm. When all of a sudden I caught a large bird
approaching from my left just above the trees. It turned out to be an adult
Bald Eagle. But what was really a surprise was to see that the bird was
carrying nesting material a large weedy patch of grass.
I soon went to the Banister River WMA and with minutes I found a sub-adult Bald
Eagle. This is the earliest that I have seen eagles at the WMA as it is
usually April before I see one.
On the way back to pick up Shirley, I had an adult Bald Eagle fly over the road
at Runt Powell's farm that was her mother's family farm.
Now I have seen both Bald Eagles and Mississippi Kites of both of her parents
family farms.
