Regarding the Bald Eagle sighting, they may hang out along the Shenandoah =
River more often than one would think.  I see them at Sky Meadows State Par=
k=
once in a while, esp. when one of the rangers puts out roadkilled deer in =
the fields for the raptors and vultures to feed on.  It's assumed that the =
eagles at the park come over from the river.

Also, the Swallow-tailed Kite was seen late yesterday afternoon (8/11).  =
With the help of two other birders, I saw it far off to the west around 6pm=
.=
Also of note was a Cooper's Hawk and at least 125 Mourning Doves.  I've =
never seen so many Mourning Doves in one place before.

Saw and photographed an immature Bald Eagle today (11 Aug about
11:00am)cruising parallel to the Shenandoah River west of Paris, VA.  It was
cruising at about 200'along State Route 622, a route which parallels the
river on the west side and, which is accessed where Hwy 50 crosses the
river.  Although not particularly rare I thought it unusual for a Bald Eagle
to be this far inland.
