Hi List,
Yesterday afternoon I found a Juvenile Baird's Sandpiper in a puddle
right next to route 50 in Loudoun County. The bird was with one juvenile
Pectoral Sandpiper and two Solitary Sandpipers. The spot is about three miles
east
of Gilbert's Corner on the south side of 50 immediately after the road becomes
divided. There is a small green sign that says Arcola School on that
shoulder. Park at this sign and the puddle is about fifty feet away from you
through
the shrubs. The shoulder is wide so if you stop here pull way off. This is
where people hit the gas as they pick up that extra lane.
