My name is Bill and I work in Virginia State Government in an area that has a
lot of Press contact. And yes, I am a birder. The fact that I am a birder is
known to the press corps here in Virginia. I was contacted today by Carol
Morello of the Washington Post and she asked me to comment on the Chesapeake
Bay Bridge Tunnel controversy. Specifically, she asked, as a birder, have I
seen differences in how I am treated as I go out on my trips.
My first reaction was no, but now I realize that just weeks ago on a trip to
Key West I was ushered away from a location near the Key West Naval Air
Facility (my mistake). And yes I made it to Dry Tortugas.
