All,
I don't know what "The Page" is, but on the PUBLICATIONS page of my
Birding Northern Virginia web site, I do recommend the Stokes CD's. I
know lots of birders who prefer the Birding By Ear series, though my
own preference is for the Stokes CD's. I also have a link to BirdPod
on my site. I sometimes use BirdPod in the field, and I like it quite
a bit. However, I don't use BirdPod as a substitute for the Stokes
CD's. Instead, I use it on occasion to check vocalizations I am
hearing in the field, but might not be sure about. If you go the
BirdPod route, make sure you order the companion BirdMaker software.
National Geographic has just published some software too. You can
find a link to this product and other software applications on the
PUBLICATIONS page at http://homepage.mac.com/pmkane.

All,
I'm thinking about getting the software and CDs (The page says you
have to use Stokes CDs) but am wondering if it is really THAT great.
Anyone using it?
If you have a better / cheaper system I'd be open to suggestions.
I think learning to find my targets by ear will go a long way for me.
Thanks
Jim
