If you do, it might be worth checking them for Sharp-tailed Sandpipers.
There were concurrent reports of Sharp-taileds at Bombay Hook and in New
Jersey earlier this week, and word now comes from Rochester, New York of a
bird there yesterday.
At least two locations that Sharp-taileds have shown up at in Virginia are
Hunting Creek (twice, both in September, 1983 and 1989) and Chincoteague, in
September of 1984. Someone else might fill in the holes if there are more
records.
Anyone going to Chincoteague this weekend should keep this species in mind,
but by no means might one only show up on the coast.
Long-billed Curlew was also seen in New Jersey this past week.
