My family was visiting my Aunt and Uncle's this weekend at their place
between Middleburg and Upperville this morning. I took a quick walk before
breakfast and find a nice batch of migrants working the trees at the edge of
horse
pastures. By far the best bird was my lifer golden-winged. I got an excellent
look before running back to the house to wake up my wife. We found some of the
other birds in the loose flock it was travelling with, but didn't relocate
the target. Ah well.
The bird didn't vocalize, but it showed no sign of hybridization with
blue-winged. Also around were a very dull Blackburnian (first year female?), 2
Canada warblers, 3 magnolias, a chestnut-sided, 3 B&W, and a smattering of
other
common migrants.
