This afternoon, I made an unsuccessful attempt at relocating the Ross' Goose(
found yesterday at the drained pond off Rt 29 south of Amherst by Mark Johnson
et al). Afterwards, I made a run by Mill Creek Lake off Rt 610 (northern
Amherst Co) in hopes that the Ross' had found the best watering hole in Amherst
Co. Mill Creek held a nice assortment of waterfowl (but alas no Ross' Geese)
including:
5 Common Merganser (1 drake, 4 hens)
3 Hooded Merganser
20 Ruddy Duck
15 Bufflehead
1 C. Goldeneye (female)
6 Pied-billed Grebe
1 Horned Grebe
1 Common Loon
2 Black Duck
2 Gadwall
1 Ring-necked Duck
2 Redhead
70 C. Geese
1 Great Blue Heron
Good Birding,
