Although the Friends of Dyke Marsh do not run their Sunday morning bird
walks at Dyke Marsh during the holiday season, I started the new year by
covering the usual route (accompanied by Laura Foster).

From shore of picnic grounds, scoping waters off mouth Hunting Creek and
Potomac River N to Jones Point; after checking the marina, we wandered
down the Haul Road and out to the platform at the end of the new
boardwalk; returned by same route;
8 to 9 C, complete overcast clearing to mostly sunny with scattered
clouds; NW breeze, 8 to 10 km/hr; high tide about 0845 EST;
