VA-Birders,
I quick run to a couple of spots between 6:00 and 6:45 this morning was
fairly productive, with the most notable bird being a surprise vocal ALDER
FLYCATCHER singing at the Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary (Arlington) near
the airport. Also here were a few WARBLING VIREOS. I also stopped at
Daingerfield Island just south of the airport (City of Alexandria) and found
relatively few migrants. Traditional Florida coastal migrant traps are
reporting a dramatic slowdown in arriving migrants the past two days, so we
are nearing the end of the wave.
I also added an AMERICAN REDSTART and a YELLOW WARBLER to my list of
backyard birds in my Courthouse neighborhood today. Lists for two locations
below.
