I ventured forth today in an attempt to photograph the Snowy Owl that was being
observed in Rockingham County adjacent to I-81. I arrived before daybreak and
observed the bird in the corn field and just prior to sunrise it flew to the
fence adjacent to the highway where I obtained several photographs. I then
headed south to Augusta County where Allen Larner had reported the Brewer's
Blackbirds. I found the birds in what I presume was the same feedlot where
Allen had his success. Then on my way home I stopped by the Green Spring's area
of Louisa County and found a mostly leucistic Red-tailed Hawk about 3/4 of a
mile down E. Jack Jouett Road.
