Hi,
Thank you Richard. Before your reply came I had installed all the IMAP
functionality but had the same problem... Until I set the option to
imap/notls as suggested... Now I can login perfectly.

Looks like you need to use the novalidate-cert option when specifying
your
server type in local.servers.php. Eg. pop3/ssl/novalidate-cert or
alternatively pop3/notls
