Read the Pentagon papers and think corruption in VN's government. The people
did not fight for the "democratic" government because they were given nothing

I happen to agree with much of what was said. I cannot, however, ignore the
parallels with Viet Nam. In both cases, we have been in unwinnable wars. In
Viet Nam, we declared victory and came home. Here, both Trump and Biden have
recognized that any agreement with the Taliban is simply papering over the fact
that they will take over the country when we leave. The best we can do is
provide asylum the translators and others who have worked with us there. Eric
