| After passing through the House, President Biden's $1.9 trillion stimulus
bill sits in the Senate, waiting to be passed. However, "weeks" of delays may
loom over the proposed legislation that includes $1,400 direct stimulus
payments, but not $15 Federal minimum wage. According to Rep. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, there are "two options" for the $15 minimum wage to pass:
disregard the Senate parliamentarian's ruling or end the legislative
filibuster.Biden, however, plans on using his "political capital" to strongarm

| Governors' Popularity Peters Out as COVID Rolls On |
| American governors' "long honeymoon" period for approval ratings —buoyed by
their response to the COVID pandemic— looks to be coming to an end. A Newsweek
analysis found the pandemic gave America's governors a unique opportunity to
show leadership in a time of national crisis. Broadly, voter approval was more
buoyant for those who took a stricter line on public health, though the effect
had started to peter out by the end of 2020.New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio
believes that "more truth" will come out on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's
alleged "pattern of abuse." The governor's reputation continues to sink with
multiple sexual harassment allegations and after his nursing home death
controversy. With growing calls for him to resign and even suggestions that he
could be impeached, attention has turned to the woman who would succeed him:
Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul. Meanwhile scorned-California Governor Gavin Newsom
faces backlash after posting a TikTok video from inside a closed restaurant. |

| Supreme Court Case Could Have Major Implications for Voting Rights |
| The United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments today in a case
concerning voter restrictions in Arizona. The case, Brnovich v. Democratic
National Committee, alleges that Arizona's voting policies have made it more
difficult for citizens to cast votes—and perhaps disproportionately more
difficult for people of color and Native American communities.The case
challenges the Supreme Court's 2013 overturn of two voter protection policies
inscribed in the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA): votes cast in the incorrect
polling sites must be tossed out, and only a voter's immediate family member or
caregiver may collect or submit mail-in ballots. Arizona was the center of
voter controversy in the tumultuous 2020 election. |

| President Biden's nominee to head the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC),
Gary Gensler, will have his confirmation hearing today in front of the Senate
Banking Committee.In his early reign as chairman, Gensler must address two key
issues at the forefront of the financial world: the burgeoning adoption of
cryptocurrency and the Reddit-fueled GameStop trading and other "meme stocks''
that have hit Wall Street short-sellers hard. Gensler previously taught classes

| Another SpaceX Starlink Takeoff After Aborted Launch |
| Another SpaceX Starlink launch is set for today. Using reusable Falcon 9
rockets, SpaceX has deposited more than 1,000 satellites into orbit to date, as
part of their Starlink campaign—an initiative to beam down broadband internet
globally. The launch was originally scheduled for Sunday but was called off
with T-minus one minute, 24 seconds until takeoff due to unfavorable weather
conditions.The launch out of Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida,
is set for 7:53 pm ET, and can be live-streamed here. The progression of
SpaceX's launches will culminate in landing on the Red Planet. |
