The real writer is Kellie Coffey and the song appears on her "When you lie next to me" CD.**** The PADD By Lt. Sara Crusher "Excuse me, Doctor Crusher?" Sara looked up from her desk and the mounds of PADDs and paperwork she was sledging though. "Yes Jenny?" The kind hearted older woman smiled at Sara as she entered the office. "Sorry to do this to you , Sara, but.." Jenny placed more PADDs down on the table. "The rest of the work from yesterday." Smiling on the out side and groaning on the inside Sara gazed awkwardly at the stack of PADDs. "Where on earth did those come from?" "They had been in here but one of the crewmen moved them. I think that’s why you couldn’t fine Lt. Kaelyre’s clearance papers." Sara rolled her eyes. "Thank you Jenny. Would you do me a favor and inform the staff once again that the things in my officer are off limits unless I ask for something." Jenny nodded as Sara began to look though the PADDs. Picking a creamed colored one from the middle Sara looked at it and laughed. "Hot Damn!" "Doctor?" Grinning from ear to ear Sara gripped the PADD hard. "I thought I lost this one." She then looked up at Jenny who looked more then a bit confused. "It’s a personal PADD." Jenny just nodded and smiled before leaving the room to return to her duties as head nurse. Sitting behind her desk Sara began reading over the words she’d written. She felt a little like a silly school girl writing song lyrics about her lover. But to her the words on the PADD meant something. They expressed what she felt in a way she’d never be able to say out loud, at least for now. But still Sara worried. She and Cyanah were still very early in the relationship, still in the cloud stage as her mother called it. The stage in the relationship when it’s still so new and fresh and you can’t get enough of the person your in love with. The stage where every time you see the person or even hear their name you feel as if your walking among the clouds. Sara spent the rest of her shift thinking about the PADD, about Cyanah, about everything. She looked back on her past relationships and none of them compared to this. There wasn’t one that had made her feel like this, not one could come close to invoking the truth she has scribbled onto the PADD that she now carried in her lab coat pocket. No one from her past could make her feel the way Cyanah could just by smiling at her. The connection they shared allowed Sara to understand that Cyanah felt the same way she did at times. She loved getting the bounce back effect of how Cyanah felt when she would do something as simple as sit next to her on the couch and play with her hair as she read the SAJ. As Sara entered her quarters that night she wondered if everything they felt now would last. The thought of not having what they have now was as scary as the raw emotions themselves were at times. After taking a hot shower and changing into an over sized t-shirt Sara sat on her couch and looked out the window and wondered if Cyanah felt the same as she did, if she thought about where they were and where they were going. Then she looked down at the PADD that rested on the couch next to her. Sara smiled at herself as she picked it up. She was over thinking things again. Cy was always telling not to worry about where things go next, focus on what’s now. Sara turned on the PADD and re-read the words she had written, words that had just come as freely as her emotions. Oh. Maybe tonight, We could close the door and lock ourselves inside, Take time to feel, I don’t want to miss the chance to be so real. The days all fly away and I forget the truth. Everything that matters, is in this room. When you lie next to me, Breathing the air I breathe. We don’t have to speak, an' just be. Our love’s a precious thing, Don’t want to waste a day. Or one more minute without you in it. Life is so sweet, When you lie next to me. My heart is yours, And every part of me still wants to give you more. More time to love, 'Cos you never know when life will leave us. I want to take in all the beauty here. Oh, let the world around us just disappear. When you lie next to me, Breathing the air I breathe. We don’t have to speak, an' just be. Our love’s a precious thing, Don’t want to waste a day. Or one more minute without you in it. Life is so sweet, When you lie next to me. Oh lie next to me. When you lie next to me, Breathing the air I breathe. We don’t have to speak, an' just be. Our love’s a precious thing, Don’t want to waste a day. Or one more minute without you in it. Life is so sweet, When you lie next to me. When you lie next to me. Cyanah sat in the chair across from Sara’s couch hugging her legs. She watched as Sara slept on the couch so peacefully so beautifully. She rested her chin on her knees as she looked at the cream colored PADD she held in her hand. She re-read the words it held for the fourth maybe fifth time since picking the small PADD up from the floor next to the couch.
