"A New Light" - Chapter Four
by Lieutenant Sara Crusher
and Lieutenant JG Cyanah Kaelyre

The crew of the Banshee rushed through the halls of the ship and station
as they soaked in every minute of their well-deserved shore leave. All
except the two redheads that couldn't care less about the hustle and
bustle of cramming in everything they could in a few short days. Sara
lay on the bed next to Cyanah once again, her heart pounding as she
stared out the window that loomed above them. "I think I've found an
addiction to replace coffee," she teased.
Cyanah laughed, her heart also racing. "I know the feeling. That was
mind-blowing, Sara!" She rolled onto her side and snuggled up against
her lover. Playfully drawing circles on Sara's stomach with her
fingertip, she asked, "So, what do you want to do today? Aside from me."
Sara bit her bottom lip to keep herself from giggling at the sensation
of Cyanah's finger on her bare stomach. "Well, there went all of my
plans," she teased as she turned her head to look at Cy. "I suppose we
should eat dinner sometime today and if we stay in your quarters that
will never happen."
"Dinner and shopping on the Promenade, then?" Cyanah's face lit up at
the prospect.
"Dinner and shopping sounds good to me..." She sat up and smiled at Cy
as she reached over her to pick up the robe that had was in a crumpled
heap on the foot of the bed. "And afterwards?" Sara got that same look
in her eye that she had had a few hours ago. "We haven't messed up my
quarters yet," she teased as she looked around the room.
"Hmmm," Cyanah said thoughtfully, a twinkle in her eye, "then tonight we
should mess up your place. We can't have it getting jealous."
Again Sara laughed, loving every moment of it. She was enjoying this
newfound part of her life and although she knew the path she had placed
herself on would be a rocky one, she was more then willing to go full
force ahead. Sara stood up and slipped on the robe, but didn't bother to
tie it closed. She walked to the doorway that led out into the living
room and picked up her discarded turtleneck uniform top. "We may have to
stop at my quarters sooner then we thought..." she said as she tossed
the wrinkled top at Cyanah.
Cyanah caught the top and held it up, chuckling at all of the wrinkles.
"Who wants to wear a uniform on shoreleave anyway? Just pick out
something of mine," she said, gesturing at her closet. "We're almost the
same size."
Sara walked over to the closet and started looking though it. Most of
its contents were Delosian except for the odd pair of jeans and a
sweater or two. She reached in and grabbed a lovely little sundress that
was a rather pretty pale blue. She showed it to Cy and waited for her
feedback.
"That's one of my favorites! It should look gorgeous on you." Cyanah
reached in the closet and grabbed a similar looking garment, but in a
deep forest green.
Sara quickly changed into the dress and grinned as she watched Cy change
into hers. Within minutes they were walking back though the halls
towards the transporter room. Sara nodded at the chief behind the
control panel and once again found herself standing next to Cy in DS9's
transporter room. Carefully stepping off the pad, she waited for Cy
before heading out into the busy halls of the station. "Where to?" she
asked as they merged into the foot traffic. "I say dinner first. 'Cause
I'm starving! I worked up quite an appetite," she said with a flash of a
playful grin.
"I'll bet you did! You were insatiable. Anyway, how about that Italian
place near Quark's?"
"Italian sounds good," Sara agreed as she blushed from the remark about
her new found 'appetite.'
They moved slowly though the crowds and soon found themselves stating
inside a small Italian restaurant that looked as if it had be replicated
from an old 20th century gangster movie. Sara noticed the smell of
baking garlic bread right away and sighed. "Smells like real cooked
food."
"Mmm," Cyanah agreed, inhaling the divine scent. "It'll be a nice
change." The waiter came to their table, poured a couple of glasses of
white wine, and took their dinner orders. After ten minutes of wine and
conversation focused around Sara's awakened sexual appetite, their pasta
arrived.
Living on a starship brings with it a sense of pleasure in the little
things, like real water showers, real cooked food and real alcohol. Sara
chuckled a bit as the waiter refilled their wine glasses. "How long
before we're in the same shape we were in last night?" she said as she
took another small sip from her glass.
"Given our sizes, not too long. Let's try to avoid that so we can
actually walk to shop, ok?" Cyanah gave Sara a wink and then dove into
her pasta. They finished their meal with two glasses of ice water and
all their senses intact. Sara adored the tiramisu and decided that the
chocolate and coffee desert was worth leaving Cyanah's quarters, but
only barely.
"Now bring on the shops," she said with smile as she and Cy walked out
into the crowd. They walked the halls for a while scoping out the good
stores to check out and continued to talk about what they would do for
the rest of their leave. After mapping out all of the stores they wanted
to go into, they headed for the first on their list, a small clothing
shop with the cutest outfits in the window.
Cyanah pointed to one of the outfits, a blue Risan silk blouse with a
close-cut black velvet skirt, and exclaimed, "Sara! You'd look great in
that!" The scientist in her was dormant for now, but the
fashion-conscious Delosian noblewoman was fully awake.
Sara had been looking at a pair of knee high boots in the other window
when Cy shouted out to her. She jumped a bit and laughed as she walked
over to her. "What would look great on me?" she asked as she came
closer. She looked up at the outfit that Cy had been pointing at, and
without thinking or hesitation, she slipped her arm around Cy's back and
around her waist. "That is cute. Shall I try it on?"
Cyanah snuggled into her, enjoying having Sara's arm around her waist,
and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "Yeah! With those boots you were
looking at!"
The two walked into the shop side by side with Sara still holding onto
Cy's waist. She spotted one of the salesladies and called for her
attention. The woman came right over and Sara told her what she wanted
to try on. While they waited for her to get the outfit in Sara's size
they started looking around at some of the other things. She allowed her
southern style to show as she tried to talk Cy into a tight fitting pair
of jeans and simple black vest. "The vest would be so much easier to get
off then the uniform top," she teased as she put her arms onto one of
Cy's shoulders, just as the sales woman came over with her things. She
took them and headed to a fitting room without really noticing the
woman's strange looks
Cyanah snagged the jeans and the vest off of the rack and hurried to
catch up with Sara. Casting a glance back at the saleswoman, she
followed Sara into the fitting room with a mischievous look in her eye.
She locked the door behind them and grinned at Sara as she started to
change into the tight jeans. "These jeans are as tight as this little
fitting room. I'm not used to wearing things like this... we prefer
flowing garments on Delos."
Not minding the close fit Sara grinned as she allowed her borrowed
sundress to fall to the floor. "Those are a southern Earth style. Most
of my closet is tight jeans and tiny tops." She grinned again as she
caught sight of the curves the jeans outlined. "Betazoid clothing is a
lot more flowing and elegant. But it doesn't quite enhance the view of
things like those do," she said as she slipped the skirt on over her
hips. She was just about to reach for the top when she felt Cy brush
against her in the small room. She turned and placed a hand on Cy's bare
midriff and was about to lean in and kiss her, but stopped.
Cyanah arched her back against Sara and leaned her head to the side,
intercepting the aborted kiss. They kissed for a few minutes before
stopping, fearing that their arousal wouldn't permit them to stop.
Cyanah giggled as she put on the vest over her bare chest, and then
twirled as best she could in the confined space, modeling the outfit for
Sara. "How do I look?"
Sara couldn't help but grin as she took in what the outfit showed off.
"I think you look great," she told Cy as she reached out and traced the
outline of the low-cut neckline of the vest. "I think you should wear
tops like this more often." Sara finished putting on her outfit and then
motioned for the two of them to step out of the fitting room so they
could use the large mirrors just outside the door. Sara stood right
behind Cyanah as they posed in front of the mirror. She nuzzled in
close so she could whisper in Cy's ear as her hand made its way down the
front of the vest. "You know, now I'll have to find out if you go like
that under your uniform as well." But the mood was quickly broken by the
sound of the saleslady's voice, and Sara recoiled quickly, stepping away
from Cy, but only a bit.
"We'll take them!" Cyanah quickly said to distract the saleswoman. She
wandered away to prepare the sale, so Cyanah and Sara scurried back into
the fitting room, breathing heavily but laughing anyway. Cyanah took off
the vest, exposing her chest again. "You wanted to know if I'm like this
under my uniform, huh?" she teased.
Sara was distracted for a moment. The look on the saleswoman's face
bothered her. Sara lifted her top over her head and nodded at Cy. "I
do... Which means those little pop up visits I make to your lab when I
get bored my take whole new meanings," she said as she leaned in and
kissed Cy.
"Mmm... I always loved those visits. I suspect that they'll be even
better, now." Cyanah peeled the jeans off her legs and folded them
neatly, then dropped the green dress back over her head and smoothed it.
Flipping her hair from under the dress, she commented with a sly smile,
"Check your medical database entry on Delosians... you may figure out
the answer." She picked up the vest and jeans. "Do you think we should
actually buy these clothes?" she asked, chuckling at how she had
distracted the saleswoman.
Sara flipped her hair out from under the pale blue dress she had slipped
back on. "No. But only because something about that woman bothers me,"
she said as she placed the clothes she had tried on in a neat pile. Sara
fallowed Cyanah out of the fitting room and giggled when she told the
saleswoman they had changed their minds.
Back on the promenade, Sara took hold of Cy once again and then smiled.
"I've read the most of the medical data on Delosians from having to
update the databanks. But I'll be honest; by the time I got to some of
it I was tired of reading anything medical."
"Well... you remember the part about our skin cells continuing to divide
at the full adult rate for our entire lives, causing our skin never to
lose elasticity?"
"Yes. That's one of the reasons you age much slower then humans."
"We don't outwardly appear to age at all once we reach maturity. I'll
look exactly like I do now in two hundred years. But, if you apply that
to why females of many humanoid species wear bras..." Sara shuddered as
the image of several older humanoid females she once had to treat in med
school came back to her. Cyanah got a flash of Sara's thought over their
lingering mind-link. "Exactly. They'll never sag," she said, giggling.
"I never even saw a bra until I went to the Academy."
Sara laughed. "Lucky girl. Personally I hate them. But human females are
taught to suffer with them at an early age."
"I do wear them occasionally, so I know what you mean," Cyanah said with
a laugh. "I usually wear a bra when human modesty decrees it necessary.
I think I'd certainly have to wear one with that vest!"
"Yeah, I guess you would." Sara agreed with a giggle. "Human modesty was
not one of my Grandmother's strong suits, so I can image the shock you
must have felt," Sara said as she pointed to another shop. "My
Grandmother threw a hissy fit at my brother's wedding when everyone was
clothed. But we were raised with more human traits than Betazoid ones,"
she finished as the walked in the jewelry store.
Cyanah was shocked to see a display case of Delosian jewelry as they
entered the store. "Sara! Look!" she said as she pointed at the case.
"Those are from my homeworld!"
Sara looked at the expression on Cyanah's face and smiled. She had such
an excited look in her eyes, like a child on Christmas morning. She then
looked into the case; it was full of the most elegant and simply
beautiful pieces of jewelry see had seen since her last visit to
Betazed. She was starting to wonder if the cultures weren't quite as
different as she thought. Too bad she was mostly human, that's where the
real differences were. "Oh, Cy, they're wonderful," she said.
"Those earrings would look simply stunning on you," she said, pointing
to a pair with deep green gems set in a brilliant golden-hued metal
shaped into a Delosian symbol of good fortune. She gestured to the
salesman, who removed them from the case and presented them to Sara to
try on.
Taking the earrings from the old Bajoran man, Sara very carefully put
them on and then held her hair back to allow Cy to see them. She smiled
as she saw them for herself in a mirror behind Cyanah's shoulder. "Wow,
they're brilliant!" Sara said. "What does the design mean?"
"It's a good luck symbol... I think finding these earrings is a good
omen for us, and I don't even believe in omens. We'll take them!" she
said, not even asking the price.
Sara stood, shocked as she watched Cyanah pay the man for the earrings.
"Cy?"
"Yes, love?"
Sara felt silly for asking, but no one had ever just bought her
something out of the blue before. "Are these for me?"
"No, they're for Josh. Of course they're for you, silly!"
Sara blushed as she laughed. "No one's ever..." She wasn't sure what to
say so she simply walked over, took Cy in her arms and kissed her,
hoping that Cy would be able to feel what she was feeling.
Cyanah returned Sara's embrace and kiss eagerly, feeling her gratitude
quite strongly even through the weak mind-link. The old man at the
counter smiled at the two women as they made their way out of his shop,
the earrings paid for and his profits for the day way up.
Arms around each other's waists, they made their way back to the
transporter room, nodded to the chief, and were spirited back to the
Banshee. A few minutes later, they were in Sara's quarters, wrapped
around each other in a passionate embrace of heated emotion. Again, a
trail of clothing followed them to the bedroom, where they would spend
another night of ecstasy.
