Impressive by any standards.
Tony Miles also did a blindfold simul at Roetgen, Germany in 1984. For those
who want to read his account of it from his biography It's Only Me there's a
link below, but it's a very long one! Takes up three or four lines! Begins
https(obviously), ends =false.

Just a quick note. Regarding blindfold chess. The last I heard, Timur
Garyev--if I spelled his name correctly--was the world champion blindfold
player, playing, if memory serves, 48 games simultaneously, and, yes,
blindfolded. That's got to be eidetic memory, but astounding, nonetheless.
Timur actually attended our 2017 USBCA championship tournament in Kansas.
Sadly, only four US players actually showed up for the tournament. However,
we were the beneficiaries of a simul by Timur. He played the four of us,
plus three local players. He was most gracious with permitting draws to
several of us. I know for a fact that my game would have been an easy win
for him at the point when he offered the draw.

Irene and alll.
A couple things: Playing chess blindfolded does not equate to playing as a
blind player. It simply means that you can picture the board in your
head--yes, like we do in the battle of the brains-- or just by years of
learning positions and strategy.
Learning as blind competitors from other blind competitors is great.
And, I think, Paul Benson's coaching sessions are the way to go go.
And, I know many folks on here learned the game from Jim Thoune with the
Hadley courses.

Marcin Tazbir is visually impaired there is an interview on YouTube
and with correct of lenses for his eye condition he is able to see the

chess because learning how to play blindfold chess as a blind person
should give me an advantage of having a much better understanding of
the board I am very impressed with the people who participated in the
battle of the brains tournament this winter nice work
Marcin is now coaching
When studying computers and technology I try to avoid working with
visually impaired Their methods of teaching do not allow me to
understand quickly how the process is taking place so we are looking
for blind persons who are teaching blindfold chess I suppose a sighted
person teaching blindfold chess would work as long as they were
blindfolded an interesting problem

Hi, Alan and all.
Marcin Tazbir is the only blind chess grandmaster. His rating has
been around 2525 for a few years now. It goes to show your
long-standing maxim--Yes, blind people can and do play chess--is spot on.
Okay, well off to doing a bit more prep for the Cleveland Open coming
up this weekend. Five rounds of pure and fierce competition OTB style
over the next three days. It's gonna be great. So, bring it on!

With best regards.
