There will almost certainly be a picture of the position, but thankfully
they have kindly included an accessible Fenn as well.
You must cursor through each character individually to determine upper or
lower case which dictates colour of the unit.
Do not think from the Fenn representation that black is to play and win.
That trailing, "0 1", is what Fritz or similar always seem to throw up.
Instead on this site it is always white to win unless a statement to the
contrary is given at the start of each puzzle, and the law of averages
suggests black will be playing approaching half of the games.
The puzzles are taken from real play, the only way to tell if it is early
middlegame or endgame is to listen for frequent occurrences of the number 8
in between the slashes, indicating empty ranks.
Lastly, the solutions are always minimal, just a couple of moves along the
main line, much left to the student to work out.
So pick a name you recognise, save the page to documents, and play through a
puzzle per day.

However for us we must play through the whole game, doubtless the picture of
the board is available for others, and note here there is no helpful Fenn
representation.
This of course means we do not know when the actual puzzle-move is set, this
makes the experience much more like a real game, each moves needs analysing
as if you were in real play.
There is kibitzing on these pages, answers posted of varying degrees of
helpfulness.
This might not suit your needs, it is possible you will play the puzzle
answer without having given it full thought, then you will only be analysing
from having being given the first move of the puzzle.
Also the strength of the puzzle increases as the week proceeds, Monday easy,
Saturday very difficult.
There are many sites out there offering a new puzzle each day, very helpful,
but all pictures with no Fenn representation of the position, chocolate
teapots.
Also to find out if your proposed move is correct, you must mouse it on the
board and the site will reply, correct or incorrect, brilliant.
Don't any of these site designers have anyone in their family or circle of
friends who can't see their ****ing pictures?
