I once played a fellow who claimed to know the rules of chess. He
executed--or tried to--kingside castling by moving his king to h1 and his
h-rook to e1. He then tried to execute a queenside castle in the same game.
Guess what the move was???
Did you guess moving the queen to a1 and the a-rook to d1?
You should have!
I have to admit, it gives a real intriguing perspective to the game. I
suppose, as a variant, it could be entertaining.

Jim, got it and I now understand castling now. Just wondering who was that
guy here played with me and he castled on his queenside with the King on B 8
and the Rook on c 8. Anyway as I know that sometimes I make mistakes, but

Louis, The easiest way to remember this is that the king always always
always moves only two squares to right or left when castling.
So, for
queenside castling, king ends on c-file, relevant rook ends on d-file. Two
rules to note:
First, king can ever only move one square Except when castling.
Second: king always always moves two squares when castling.
