Yes, players with zeros have no ratings. That is, they have not played
FIDE-rated tournaments. So, ungraded players are unknowns. They can be strong,
or weak, but as a general rule, not very strong. Simply because they have not
played games and have not scored well against rated players.
Ratings are just a number though. Mean little.
I’m rated at 2158, but am performing at a 2300 plus standard, which is my
expected and estimated level.
I’ve beaten three FIDE Masters with white. That alone, should say something.
Sure, they have dropped rating points from obtaining their FIDE Master Titles,
but once obtained, these guys are no mugs.
The latest rook-pawn end-game is very, very instructive though.
